A first assessment

An official delegation of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games led by its president Mr. Davide Tizanno and its secretary general Mr. Iakovos Filippousis was received in Oran for a working visit and an inspection of the infrastructures planned for Oran 2022.

This is the first visit of the ICMG president since his election last November. This is the first visit of the ICMG president since his election last November. During this trip planned to examine the preparations of the city before hosting the 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games, Mr. Davide Tizanno was very satisfied with the progress of the achievements in their entirety.

Efforts welcomed

Aware of the efforts that have been made to accelerate the pace of work delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the former Olympic rowing champion was keen to salute “the enormous support provided by the Algerian government” which has materialized on the ground and to thank the president commissioner of the Oran 2022 Games, Mr. Aziz Derouaz “who has played a great role since his nomination to his post, last October, to remedy the delay recorded”.

Mr. Tizanno and Mr. Filippousis were also received by the Prime Minister Aïmene Benabderrahmane at the Government Palace for a working session before leaving Algiers. They will return to Oran on March 10 for a meeting of the ICMG executive council and to continue to assess the progress of the OCMG achievements.
